Trending 2014 - Floral Inspiration, Interiors & Products

1
If your browsing through a textile designers portfolio, you are likely to see several floral designs. Prints of flowers have been around for centuries and will always have a place in interior design. It was the famous small print floral designs that originally launched Laura Ashley's Empire in the 1950's. The current catwalk trends are seeing a resurgence in floral from lingerie to gowns, chiffon to linen. Bold and sometimes intimidating designs or soft watercolour like floral's, often mixed with geometric designs. Personally I lean towards the softer designs, but the bolder patterns do still have their place. Interior design trends are inspired by the seasons catwalk and floral is definitely big for spring and summer 2014.

Floral patterns are a great way to bring the outdoors in and inject some life into all interior styles, they can add an infusion of colour or remain subtle. for example a soft shade such as aqua, combined with varying shades of green and a touch of lemon can add movement to a static room without overpowering it. If you have a very neutral white, beige or grey palette in your home, it is simple to inject the latest floral designs by using cushions or maybe a duvet cover or curtains, to brighten a room. I decided to seek out some floral inspiration then head over to Anthropologie, to see what floral inspired products they had.
